The Year of the Sheep

The Chinese Zodiac is a classification in which a twelve month period of time is symbolized by a particular animal. There are twelve different animals which characterize years. The cycle repeats every twelve years.

The Chinese New year does not fall on a specific date, so it is necessary to look up the calendar to find the specific date on which the year begins.

As per ancient Chinese beliefs, people born in any year exhibit the characteristics of the animal which symbolizes that particular year.

The Years of Sheep are eighth in this system. They are preceded by the Years of the Horse and succeeded by the Years of the Monkey.

Years of Birth: 1907, 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015…

The Sheep is characterized by being organized and disciplined.

Sheep people have an aura of peace around them. They are charming in their own way and quite graceful. In addition, a sheep is soft-spoken and well-mannered.

Many of them turn out to be great thinkers. They love to dream. Imagination is their forte. It lets them set precise expectations from life. Their sense of aesthetics, artistry and creativity derives from a vivid imagination.

The Sheep/Ram/Goat is kind at heart and melts easily by anyone’s sorrows. Its charm and friendly nature wins a lot of friends. Infact, it is said that anyone born in the year of sheep might face difficulties but will always overcome those with the help of his friends.

Also these people might appear to be soft but they never yield to anyone under any kind of pressure. They have a very strong value system.

In general, the Sheep are quiet, easy-going people who do not worry about money, luxuries or a high-end lifestyle.

Sheep/Ram/Goat can be pessimistic about their own lives. It can be a difficult task to cheer them up when going through a bad phase.

By nature, they can be apprehensive about most things and have no appetite for risk. Though it helps them stay safe, there are times when risk-aversion works against them.

They want to be in the good books of people all the time. Hence their behavior is unreadable. For even close friends, it is sometimes difficult to guess what the Sheep is really thinking!

Their strengths, being a team player, calm intelligent, creative, and sensitive, allow them to pursue many different career paths with success. Their imagination makes them good writers, directors, illustrators, editor, painters and sculptors. Infact, anything to do with design is a good career choice.

Generally blessed with natural beauty and an eye for it, they succeed as models, actors, fashion designers, photographers and architects.

Sheep people are thoughtful and diplomatic, so teaching, medicine and social work are viable career options.

They have a strong sense of determination. No obstacle can stop them from achieving what they have set their minds on. This single-mindedness is a very unique quality among them, as well as being patient and hardworking.

But the Sheep would prefer to have a good mentor for guidance. In general, they prefer careers which allow them to live out their dreams.

It is a privilege to be in a relationship with a sheep. They are warm, caring and highly entertaining. Not to forget, probably the most loyal too!

Sheep are generally in a relationship for the long haul and are not scared of commitment. Their forgiving and liberal nature helps the bond grow.

Their partners need to understand that the sheep can be whimsical. The Sheep people need space to get lost in the land of their fantasies.

Being enigmatic and mystical, they expect their partners to read their expressions and body language which could be a tough job.

But these minor irritants aside, almost any sign would do well to have the Sheep as their companion. The patient pig, honest horse, charming rabbit, and seductive snake make especially good partners for the sheep.
